OUR PROGRAM

What is a Guardian Home?

We believe that all dogs should live a life as someone's beloved companion and family member, whether they will be used for breeding or not.  In an effort to continue to expand our breeding program, and to ensure all of our breeding dogs live a pampered life with their very own forever family, we have implemented a Guardian Home Program.  Here at Pawpanion, all our dogs live in our house as our family dogs.  In order  for us to continue with our breeding program, all future breeding dogs need be placed under our Guardian Home Program, since we never want to house our dogs on our premises in a kennel environment. We just don't believe dogs should have to live that way.  Our Guardian Home Program allows for local families to have a “pick of the litter puppy”, or top notch adolescent/adult breeding dog for just a fraction of the price. The Guardian Home puppy or dog is part of the Guardian Home’s Family forever, while the breeding rights are retained by Pawpanion. Once the Guardian Dog has completed his/her breeding career, he/she will be spayed or neutered at the guardians expense and the dog will remain a forever pet of their Guardian Family!  We do not just give our Guardian dogs or pups away. History has proven that this MAY attract some people wanting to be guardians for the wrong reason.  The cost of a Guardian Home dog/puppy requires a deposit of $500.00 regardless of the gender, color, or size of the puppy/ dog. If the guardian dog is a female, you will be paid a stipend for each successful litter born.  If the guardian dog is a male, you will be paid a stipend for each successful breeding with all females that are no owned by the breeder.  When the female Guardian puppy/dog has completed its breeding career for us, we will refund the entire deposit back to our Guardian Family as a way of saying “thank you” for participating in our Guardian Home Program.  The guardian family is responsible to spay/neuter the dog immediately upon it retiring from our program. The guardian family of our female guardian dogs will also be given the option of receiving one of their guardian dog's puppies (spayed or neutered) as a pet in lieu of the deposit refund.

What Are The Requirements to Become A Guardian Home?

  • To be considered as a Guardian Home for one of our breeding dogs, we require that you live within one hour of Spanish Fork, Utah.

  • Must reside within a 1 hr drive of Spanish Fork, Utah and be willing to do all the transporting of the dog to and from the breeder's home. No anticipated job transfers, family needs, etc that would remove the dog beyond this drive from Spanish Fork while the Guardian Agreement in effect.

  • You must own your own home.

  • It is necessary that you have physical fencing to provide a safe and secure environment for the Guardian dog/puppy.

  • All dogs and pups placed in Guardian Families must be indoor dogs, and never be left outside unattended.

  • Willingness to feed a high quality pet food product of breeder's approval.

  • No intact male dogs (not neutered) should be residing on the premises to increase a risk of an unwanted mating (for females only).

  • A willingness to provide regular exercise and socialization.

  • A willingness to enforce basic obedience either though formal class training or qualified experience.

  • You must have a willingness to accept and follow breeders recommendations for the dogs basic health care and veterinarian care, such as vaccine schedules, the use of certain medications, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention etc.

  • A willingness to maintain an open line of communication with Pawpanion with any matter related to the dog.

  • A willingness to allow us to visit your home (on occasion) and be able to visit our home so the dog and us stay familiar with one another.

  • The primary care giver must have a schedule that will allow for your dog to not be left alone for extended periods of time.

  • Most importantly… all the love and care and attention possible!!

  • Finally, it is imperative that your puppy/dog become a member of your family and not a backyard dog. We are looking for happy, well adjusted mothers and fathers who will pass on their good traits and happy lives to their puppies. Grooming is an important part, whether you decide to clip her/him yourself or take it to a groomer, it should be consistent and she/he should be free from mats and debris in her/his coat, as much as possible.

Any “breeding related” medical costs for the Guardian Dog are the expense of Pawpanion. Our Guardian Homes are responsible for routine maintenance and medical care just as they would if they had their own dog. Female Puppies placed in Guardian Homes would have a maximum of 6 litters.  We realize guardian families have a tremendous sacrifice to make, given the female breeding dog must be returned to us to be bred, deliver and wean her babies before being returned back to the guardians (approx. 5-6 weeks). When the female Guardian dog is in season, the Guardian Family is required to contact us immediately. An intact female usually has a heat cycle that will last between 14 to 21 days. During this time, we will need access to her for breeding related appointments. Once she has been bred, she will remain with her Guardian Family until 5 days before her due date (generally day 57 of the pregnancy). At that time, the Guardian dog will come back to stay with us throughout the remaining of her pregnancy, and will be returned once her pups are fully weaned approximately 5-6 weeks later. You would be notified when she was in labor so you could be here with her when she is delivering her babies, if you like. While the guardian female is nursing and raising her puppies, you will be able to come visit her once a week as well. Almost all of our dogs/pups available for our Guardian Program will be females, but occasionally we will have a male available.

If you are a guardian home for a male, we will be using the dog for breeding which with close proximity will be about an hour or two in a day - likely every other day for  up to 3 ties with each female he breeds. If the male is located out of the immediate area it will mean 1-2 weeks away from home. If for any reason you will be away, please contact us ahead of time so that we can make alternate arrangements. If for any reason you must move - please contact us immediately so that we can help to facilitate a solution that will work well for both of us or to receive the dog back into our home. Males placed in guardian homes only require that we be able to access them for either a natural mating and/or sperm collection.

If you are receiving a Guardian Home Puppy, we ask for monthly photos and updates during the first year so that we can watch him/her develop, and update our website. We also will require a visit to our Guardian Family’s home every few months during the first year to assess the Guardian Puppy, as well as build a relationship with her for the future. Occasionally, we will ask our Guardian Families to bring the puppy to us for a visit so that she can get comfortable with our home for when she will be here with us in the future having babies.

If you are interested in being considered for our Guardian Home Program, please contact us for an application at pawpanion@yahoo.com or call/text 801-850-4352 and we will be in touch with you.  Please know that not all applicants will be fulfilled as we only home a a handful of Guardian Home puppies a year.  Thank you!!

OUR FAMILIES

"We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Pawpanion. They have been patient and helpful through each step of the breeding process. They actually make it pretty easy.

What is most impressive is their mission to provide the best dog as possible. They go to great lengths to match their breeding mamas with the best genetic match. It makes for beautiful and healthy puppies!

Our furry mamas are wonderful companions. They are sweethearts that love everyone and love giving (and receiving) attention. We love their personalities and how much they like to snuggle. You certainly cannot go wrong with a doodle from Pawpanion!"

"Working with Pawpanion has been a great experience. We have had Millie for 18 months and have nothing but great things to say. We came into the guardian program with no breeding experience. Jeremy and Heather made sure to answer and help us with any questions or concerns we had. They genuinely care about each and every dog in their program and want to make sure they go to good homes.

Millie has been a great addition to our family. She is fun, loving and great with our kids. We could not ask for a better dog!"

-The Clark Family-

We have been a guardian home for nearly three years, and absolutely love our Golden Doodle. If it wasn’t for the opportunity to be a guardian host than we may have postponed getting a dog. Being a host family offers the benefit of having your own pet without the high cost of purchasing a puppy.

Jeremy and Heather are professional breeders and take really good care of their animals. We trust them and enjoy participating in the process with each new litter. We consider them an extension of our own family and are very happy with our decision.

"Our family has loved having Marley and Ivy in our family. They’re beautiful, loving to our girls, and fun to play with. Pawpanion is easy to work with and they communicate well. These two furry friends have brought joy to our family. We love them and they’re the perfect addition to us.

We've had Marley for more than a year now and she is tender and protective. She is helping us with training Ivy. We love how quickly she can learn commands.

Ivy is so playful and loving. She has a little sass to her that we adore. We are excited to watch her grow and learn more tricks.

These beautiful furry friends have been great for us and we are thankful to have them."

"We love being apart of this guardianship program we were not only blessed to get one amazing companion but two. Dixie the mother of our sweet Holland is a kind and loyal dig that despite her size thinks she’s a lap dog she is an angle and everyone who meets her falls in love with her.

Holland or ( holly) is playful and loving she loves spending time with the family and is a very good listener for a puppy.

We love working with the Palmer’s who are kind and informative about what’s expected during your time in the program. They are understanding about working around your schedule as well as getting what they need done. You will never find a better program. The dogs that we have gotten are loved and cared for and that shows in the breeding. We are so thankful and blessed to be a part of this program."

"I've been following Pawpanion for a long time and wish I could afford one of their darling pups.  I was told about the "Gaurdian Program" and that was the answer for me to get my pup! It was a perfect time for Bentlee to come and be my companion along with my Bischon who is 14 years old.

... within a few short weeks we all bonded and love our little family.  The hugs, cuddles & greetings when I get home are priceless!    I would strongly recommend Pawpanion for your next pup or becoming a guardian."

"Joining the PawPanion program made it possible for us to get a dog with all of the best qualities because they go above and beyond to have only the best bloodlines with the best temperaments."

Our Family is in love with these pups! Sky and Indie have been such a fun and sweet addition to our family. They are gorgeous and total sweethearts!

We were excited to find about about and join Pawpanion's Guardian Program. Jeremy and Heather walked us through the process and have been quick to help with any questions and recommendations needed.

Pawpanion is extremely professional, yet Jeremy and Heather are totally down to earth and make you feel like friends quickly. If you are looking for a new addition to your family, Pawpanion is the place to go!
